About Organic Batavia Lettuce UK

Batavia Lettuce is also known as loose-leaf lettuce, or semi-heading lettuce. In hot weather, the lettuce is slow to seed, and its crisp leaves that are like Romaine retain their crispness even in hot growing conditions. It is a favourite in France, owing both to its taste and its good shelf-life after harvesting.

This lettuce makes such a pretty addition to any salad. I often entertain and like being able to use these tasty and pretty leaves in a bowl of salad on the table. Guests often comment on how it looks.

Roquefort Pear Salad

Summary: Pears and roquefort are a classic combination, as they really go well together. Use any blue cheese if you can't get roquefort. Roasted or caramelised nuts are the final touch to give the salad a very pleasant crunch.

Peas, Asparagus and Avocado Spring Salad Recipe

Summary: This very green salad is a great way to celebrate Spring and make the best of fresh green peas and asparagus. Avocado is full of healthy fats and adds creaminess to the salad. It also makes it more satisfying, so does the walnut garnish. Shaving the asparagus as thinly as possible using a vegetable peeler makes it easy to eat raw, but if you wish, you could lightly steam the asparagus.

Vegetarian Cherry Tomato, Mozzarella And Fig Salad Recipe

Summary: Take the popular caprese salad, an Italian favourite : tomato, mozzarella and basil salad, seasoned with salt and olive oil. Swap full size tomatoes for deliciously ripe cherry tomatoes. Add heavenly sweet, fresh, perfectly ripe figs, and serve on a giant bed of shredded lettuce, dressed in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. What you get a satisfying salad lunch for a bright Summer day. Use real buffalo mozzarella if you can, it is so much tastier than mozzarella made with cows milk !
