About Organic Seville Orange
Seville orange (or bigarade) is a widely-known, particularly tart/bitter orange which is now grown throughout the Mediterranean region. It has a thick, dimpled skin, and is prized for making marmalade, being higher in pectin than the sweet orange, and therefore giving a better set and a higher yield. It is also used in compotes and for orange-flavoured liqueurs.
Seville Oranges are NOT suitable for snacking on (unless you have a taste for quite a bitter, sharp and sour snack!). Oranges are an excellent source of vitamin C, a very good source of dietary fibre and a good source of B vitamins, vitamin A, calcium and potassium. They are excellent for adding flavour in baking or preserves.
