About Ground Cumin

The pungent, sweet, spicy, smoky notes of Cumin add depth to spiced foods where they complement the heat of chilli and ginger.

It is an extremely popular spice all over the world, and is used widely in many cuisines, particularly Indian, Middle Eastern, North African, Mexican and Spanish. Ground Cumin Seeds release all the warmth, fragrance and flavour of whole Cumin Seeds, ready ground to be added to your favourite recipe. Perfect for dips such as hummus or soups and sauces where the texture of whole seeds would not be welcome.

If you enjoy fragrant gently spiced foods, then this is a store cupboard staple.

Customer reviews

It is great to be able to buy ground cumin in smaller or larger sizes depending on how many are coming for lunch. I am gradually working through all the various recipes you can find on the site that use cumin. So far I think the grilled tofu with Chimichuri sauce has been the family's favourite.

Vegan Smoked Tofu and Vegetable Kebabs Recipe

Summary: These delicious vegan kebabs are quick and easy to make, using flavoursome smoked tofu and a mix of mediterranean vegetables. They would also be fun to make and eat with children (help the younger ones with the skewers), or to take along for a picnic in a park, at the beach or in the garden. Add ground cumin and coriander and perhaps even some cayenne pepper for more of a middle eastern flavour. If you are cooking the kebabs on a barbecue, you can soak the wooden skewers in water for about an hour beforehand, to stop them from burning.

Delicious Vegan South Indian Sweet Potato And Cauliflower Curry With Fermented Quinoa Dosa Recipe

Summary: I love South Indian curries for their wonderful flavour combinations. Spices in this curry complement the creamy coconut and sweet potato. Dosas are thin South Indian rice crepes. They are traditionally made from a fermented rice and black lentils batter. For a high protein dosa, I use quinoa quinoa instead. And I don't ferment the batter when I am pressed for time, but the fermented version is closer to the original. Serve the curry and the dosa with some rice, if you wish, and garnished with lime juice, lime zest and fresh coriander.
