Super Sweet and Sour Tempeh

1 clove garlic crushed More products
1 package tempeh, cubed

Sweet and Sour Sauce:
1 tbsp oil
1 onion, chopped More products
1 1/4 cup water
2 1/2 tbsp honey More products
4 tsp tamari sauce OR More products
4 tsp shoyu sauce (not gluten free)

1 tbsp tahini More products
1/2 tsp grated ginger More products
1 spring onion, sliced

Method

  • For Tempeh:
  • Mix water, salt, coriander and garlic in a bowl.
  • Dip tempeh chunks into bowl and then coat with cornstarch.
  • Deep fry in hot oil until golden brown.
  • Drain on kitchen roll and set aside.
  • For Sauce:
  • Heat oil in a pan and saute the onion for approx 4-5 mins.
  • Add water, honey, tamari, vinegar, tahini, ginger and spring onion.
  • Bring to the boil.
  • Dissolve cornstarch in 2 tbsp water and stir into sauce. Stir until thickened.
  • Place tempeh chuncks into the sauce and cook briefly over a low heat until heated through.
  • Serve over rice or pasta.
