120ml water
2 tsp cornflour More products
1 tbsp medium dry sherry
2 tbsp soy sauce More products
1 tsp sugar More products
1/2 tsp salt More products
1 tsp sesame oil More products
1 tbsp vegetable oil More products
2 tbsp freshly grated ginger More products

2 tbsp sesame seeds lightly toasted More products

Method

  • Place the asparagus into a saucepan of boiling water and cook until just tender about 3-4 mins.
  • Drain well then transfer the asparagus to a bowl of iced water for a few mins. Drain again.
  • In a small mixing bowl stir together the cornflour and water until dissolved then add the soy sauce, sherry, sugar, salt and sesame oil and mix well.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large frying pan until hot then add the ginger and garlic and stir fry for 1 min.
  • Add the asparagus and stir fry for 1 min then stir in the cornflour mixture and bring to the boil stirring frequently and making sure the asparagus is well coated.
  • Sprinkle in the sesame seeds toss well and serve immediately.
