About Blanched Fine Ground Almonds

Are they good for you?

Our ground almonds are blanched, so the brown skin has been removed before grinding the almonds. Ground almonds (also known as almond flour or almond meal) is popular for baking sweets, cakes and biscuits.

Almonds are little powerhouses of nutrition. They contain monosaturated fats, prebiotic fibre, Vitamin E, calcium and Vitamin B1. This makes almonds great for helping to improve digestion. Almonds may also help with control of blood sugar levels and the Vitamin B1 can help with energy metabolism.

What can they be used for?

Ground Almonds can be used in baking. The consistency is more like corn meal than wheat flour so you will get a denser, moister, crumblier bake than when using wheat flour.
Ground almonds are also the basis of marzipan
Ground almonds work especially well in bakewell tarts and gluten-free cakes.
They can also be used as a thickener in curries, stews and soups.

How do you store them?

Store ground almonds in an airtight container for 1 month in the fridge. In the freezer they should stay fresh for a year.

What is a serving size?

A serving size is 25g

If you are baking with ground almonds then use the quantity the recipe requires.

Customer reviews

I use ground almonds as a gluten free flour substitute in baking. Much more nutritious than wheat flour, works for pales diet too.

By Leah Houghton on 29/09/2013

I use these ground almonds where the recipe asks for almond flour and it works really well. The Chewy Almond Cookies are great.
