About Pitted Dates Free Flow

Free Flow dates, are unpressed dates, they contain a small amount of vegetable oil to help prevent clumping. The date palm, native to the Middle East, was mentioned in the bible as the "tree of life," and the word "date" comes from the Greek "daktulos", which means "finger". Dates grow in large bunches which can weigh as much as 40 pounds, and large trees will yield more than 1,000 dates each year. In many countries dates are added to salads, couscous dishes, curries and used in baked desserts and confections. Because dates are very high in sugar, they can easily be converted into sugar. To make date sugar, arrange sliced dates on a baking sheet and bake at 450° for 10 to 15 minutes, or until very dry and hard as rocks. Grind in a food processor to make sugar.

Generally speaking our customers have found that these dates are most suitable for cooking and baking. The organic ones are better for snacking on (more uniform in size).

Real Foods Vintage Christmas Cake Recipe

Summary: This is our Vintage Christmas Cake recipe, that we used to give out to customers in our stores in the late 70s. Many traditional Christmas cake recipes recommend maturing the cake over 2-3 months, and this one is no exception, although the cake is delicious to eat right away as well. Raw Vegan Vitamin C Rich Camu Camu Brazil Nut Milk Recipe

Summary: Nowadays, it is no secret that there are plenty of delicious dairy-free milk alternatives for anyone following a vegan diet, with a milk allergy, or just wanting to reduce their intake of animal milk. Brazil Nuts are among my favourite things to make vegan milk out of, as the result is creamy and slightly sweet. Also, Brazil Nuts are one of the only few good sources of the mineral Selenium, so including them regularly in your diet will make sure that you keep your Selenium levels high. I like to add superfoods to my nutmilks, so in this one I add vitamin C rich camu camu. Camu camu is the red - purple berry from a shrub tree that grows in the Amazonian forest in Brazil and Peru. Camu camu has the highest vitamin C content of all plants, 2% to 3 % of its fresh weight is Vitamin C. You can leave out the sweetener, especially if you are going to have the Brazil Nut milk with something that is already sweet. Lecithin acts as an emulsifier, plus it helps the body break the fats down properly, so I always add lecithin to my nut milks. But feel free to leave it out if you don't have any, as it is not absolutely necessary.
