About Cayenne Chilli Pepper Powder

Cayenne Chilli Pepper Powder is made from the dried pods of pungent chilli peppers.

Cayenne pepper is a fiery spice that adds heat to a variety of foods from Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East. Cayenne Pepper has little aroma, but it is extremely hot to taste.

Chillies are a good source of vitamins C, A, B and E, iron, magnesium, riboflavin, niacin and thiamine; red chillies also contain beta carotene. They are low in fat and sodium, and because they perk up food so well are a good addition to a low sodium diet.

Really powerful cayenne chilli pepper this - make sure you add just a little at a time and taste between editions! I love it, but I have been burnt!

Vegan Ethiopian Red Lentils Mesir Wat Recipe

Summary: Misr Wat or Mesir Wat is a vegan Ethiopian stew made from red split lentils and the famous Ethiopian Berbere spice mix. Some Ethiopians, for religious reasons, eat an exclusively vegan diet, and many eat vegan dishes on special 'fast' days. This explains the abundance of vegetarian and vegan specialties. Ethiopian cuisine is one of the most flavoursome cuisines in Africa, and this red lentil stew is no exception. You can of course use a ready-made, shop-bought Berbere since mix, but I promise you that if you make your own, you will be rewarded by a rich and complex tantalising flavour that is well worth the small effort of assembling the all very common ingredients (except perhaps the fenugreek, just leave it out if you have trouble sourcing it) needed to make your own Berbere spice mix. Misr Wat is traditionally served with Injera, a soft sourdough flat bread, but you can also enjoy it with a crispy green salad.

Delicious Vegan South Indian Sweet Potato And Cauliflower Curry With Fermented Quinoa Dosa Recipe

Summary: I love South Indian curries for their wonderful flavour combinations. Spices in this curry complement the creamy coconut and sweet potato. Dosas are thin South Indian rice crepes. They are traditionally made from a fermented rice and black lentils batter. For a high protein dosa, I use quinoa quinoa instead. And I don't ferment the batter when I am pressed for time, but the fermented version is closer to the original. Serve the curry and the dosa with some rice, if you wish, and garnished with lime juice, lime zest and fresh coriander.
