Vegan Whisky Sauce

If you've never had whisky sauce on your haggis, you must try this recipe. We have created a vegan version of this recipe to go with our delicious Easy Vegan Haggis recipe.

1 small onion, finely-diced More products
4 Tbsp of whisky Available only in our Edinburgh shops More products
1.5 Tbsp Dijon mustard More products
200ml oat cream More products
200ml vegan stock More products
A dash of lemon juice More products

Method

  • Heat the vegan butter in a pan and fry the finely diced onion until translucent.
  • Add the whisky to the pan. Carefully light the whisky with a long match to burn off alcohol to take away the bitterness.
  • Once the alcohol has burned off and the flame has gone, stir in the cream and mustard and reduce over medium heat.
  • When you are happy with the consistency of the sauce, remove from the heat and season with salt, pepper and dash of lemon juice.
