About Wholemeal Flour Very Strong

Marriage's 100% Canadian very strong wholemeal flour. Ideal for: tasty rolls and bread. A very strong stoneground wholemeal, produced from 100% Canadian wheat. Traditionally milled on French Burr stones, it delivers that extra 'nutty' flavour with all the goodness of the grain.

I like this flour as it is wholemeal.  It is stoneground so the oil in the wheat germ is not damaged by heat as it  would be with modern steel rollers during the milling process.  I add about 200g of Spelt flour and make the Marriage’s flour up to 1.5kg.  That gives me three loaves and I freeze some.  My daughter is now making bread for her family.  No bread maker involved.  Making bread is easier than making a cake.  It helps to have a warm kitchen or warm spot to let yeast and dough rise.

I’d recommend this flour as it uses the whole grain of the wheat which we ate for thousands of years until flour started to more processed.  It’s one way to increase fibre in your diet in a tasty way.  Also being being stone ground it preserves the benefits of the oil in the wheatgerm which modern steel rollers damage.
