About Organic Tomatoes

Organic Tomatoes from Real Foods. Although tomatoes are fruits in a botanical sense, they don't have the dessert quality sweetness of other fruits. Instead they have a subtle sweetness that is complemented by a slightly bitter and acidic taste. Cooking tempers the acid and bitter qualities in tomatoes and brings out their warm, rich, sweetness. We source our tomatoes from a variety of places (usually the EU), if you would like to know the country of origin for our latest delivery do contact us and we'll be happy to let you know.

Tomatoes are an excellent source of vitamins C and A, and vitamin K. They're home to the brilliant antioxidant lycopene and useful for maintaining heart health, reducing your risk of some cancers and help keep your blood vessels supple. For more information on the nutrition and all of the other tomatoes available have a look at our guide to tomatoes here.

These organic tomatoes definitely have a much fuller flavour than the non organic ones. They make a very tasty addition to any salad and to most sandwiches too.

Delicious Vegan South Indian Sweet Potato And Cauliflower Curry With Fermented Quinoa Dosa Recipe

Summary: I love South Indian curries for their wonderful flavour combinations. Spices in this curry complement the creamy coconut and sweet potato. Dosas are thin South Indian rice crepes. They are traditionally made from a fermented rice and black lentils batter. For a high protein dosa, I use quinoa quinoa instead. And I don't ferment the batter when I am pressed for time, but the fermented version is closer to the original. Serve the curry and the dosa with some rice, if you wish, and garnished with lime juice, lime zest and fresh coriander.

Smoked Tofu and Mushroom Salad Recipe

Summary: For a quick yet satisfying lunch, try our vegan salad of warm stir fried smoked tofu and mushrooms and boiled or steamed green beans over a bed of mixed salad leaves and fresh tomato, along with a delicious honey, Dijon mustard and balsamic vinegar dressing. This salad makes for a filling meal thanks to the high protein content of both the tofu and the mushrooms. Green beans are coming into season in May and you can find Portobello mushrooms all year round.
