About Cask Matured Apple & Ale Chutney

Cask Matured Apple and Arran Ale Chutney. A traditional chutney made from ripe apples soaked in a cask of mature, local Arran ale. Great as a sauce over potatoes and vegetables or why not try using in a dessert and use as a filling for a sweet apple pie.

Arran Fine Foods can be found in the pretty village of Lamlash on the beautiful Isle of Arran. Their small factory started life nearly forty years ago, when they first started producing their great tasting mustards from a tiny kitchen on the island. Sold locally, they started to become very popular with the locals and tourists. Arran Fine Foods use herbs grown locally in soil fertilised with wild seaweed from the shores of Whiting Bay on Arran. They also use elephant garlic and fresh beetroot grown alongside the herbs. These superb local ingredients are used in the fine mustards and tasty chutneys they produce.

This is a lovely local Scottish chutney. I can definitely recommend trying it an apple pie, it makes a really tasty and slightly different dessert.
