About Organic Elstar Apples
Elstar apples are another successful offspring of Golden Delicious, developed in the Netherlands in the 1950s. They feature a distinctive appearance with the skin looking marbled with a soft sheen to it.
The underlying colour is golden yellow but overlaid with deep red. The flavour retains an appealing sweetness - usually described as 'honeyed' - but with a good balance of acidity.
These apples are definitely quite crunchy, but not as crisp or hard as some with a lemon-white flesh colour.
