Gluten Free Wholefood Rice And Beans Pizza Base Recipe

Did you know that you can make a pizza base out of rice and beans instead of flour ? I only found out recently, and I must say this discovery has revolutionised my diet. This pizza base is not only gluten free, much closer to a whole food diet, as it uses cooked whole rice grains and black beans, but also super chewy and really surprisingly delicious. Give it a try, paired with your favourite pizza toppings and a green salad on the side.

You will need

1/2 cup or about 100g brown rice More products
1 can black beans, rinsed and drained OR More products
dried black beans, soaked overnight More products
2 Tbsp or about 25g coconut oil More products
1 tsp sea salt More products
1 tsp chilli flakes, optional More products

  • Cook your rice as per usual, and allow to cool.
  • If using dry beans, you want to have soaked them overnight and cooked them until soft. If using canned beans, simply rinse them well, then drain them.
  • Place all ingredients in your food processor and process until everything is well combined and the mixture comes together in a ball.
  • Transfer to a baking tray lined with baking parchment, cover with another sheet of baking parchment and flatten to your desired shape and thickness using a rolling pin.
  • Spread tomato sauce on your rice and beans pizza base, add toppings of your choice and bake for about 15 minutes.
  • Enjoy with a green salad on the side.
