About Organic Hulled Sunflower Seeds

Organic Sunflower Kernels, all the tastiness of sunflower seeds without the shells. Perfect for baking, snacking on, throwing in salads on sandwiches, or try dry-frying a handful with a little tamari, yum!

Just a handful of sunflower kernels a day provides much of the recommended level of phenolic antioxidants, minerals, vitamins, and protein. Sunflower seeds are an excellent source of vitamin E (a brilliant antioxidant), phytosterols (believed to reduce blood levels of cholesterol, enhance the immune response and decrease the risk of certain cancers) and magnesium. In addition, sunflower seeds are a good source of manganese, copper, selenium, phosphorus, vitamin B1, vitamin B6 and folate.

Sunflower Seeds are from the bright yellow centre of a sunflower. The seeds are grey/green or black and occasionally have striped hulls. They are an excellent source of polyunsaturated oil and are often pressed to produce sunflower oil. Used for thousands of years by Native Americans, sunflower seeds were used as an oil and food source, but also the rest of the sunflower for dyeing. The leading commercial producers include Peru, Argentina, China, France and Spain.

The appearance of sunflower seeds can vary greatly from year to year depending on climatic conditions during the growing and harvesting season. Please note that when cooked in an alkaline medium (e.g.. Soda bread), sunflower seeds can turn green. This is a natural colour change caused by the presence of chlorogenic acid in the seeds. Chlorogenic acid helps reduce blood sugar levels by limiting glycogen breakdown in the liver.

These Sunflower Seeds are a delicious and nutritious snack that I wholeheartedly recommend. Their high quality, great taste, and versatility make them a fantastic addition to any pantry. Whether you're looking for a quick and satisfying snack, a topping for your dishes, or an ingredient for your recipes, these sunflower seeds fit the bill. I'll certainly be keeping a bag of these on hand for my snacking and cooking needs.

Sunflower seeds are generally quite affordable, especially given their nutritional value and versatility. They're an excellent option for those looking for a budget-friendly, healthful snack.

By Abigail Davis on 10/05/2023

The packaging was practical and resealable, which is a big plus for maintaining freshness. It's also a transparent bag, allowing me to see the quantity left, making it easy to reorder when needed.

By Henry Harris on 05/05/2023

Sunflower seeds are incredibly versatile. I've enjoyed them as a simple, healthy snack, but they can also be used in many recipes. I've tossed them onto salads for added texture and flavor, sprinkled them over yogurt or oatmeal, and even used them in baking, such as adding them to muffins and bread for a delightful crunch.

By Harper Lewis on 04/05/2023

Sunflower seeds are a nutritional powerhouse. They are a great source of healthy fats, protein, fiber, vitamins (such as vitamin E), and minerals (including magnesium and selenium). They are also rich in antioxidants, which contribute to their health benefits.

By Alexander Allen on 03/05/2023

These sunflower seeds are a delightful combination of nutty and slightly salty. They are roasted to perfection, making them incredibly tasty. The texture is just right—crispy without being overly hard, making them easy to eat and enjoy.

By Emily Martinez on 02/05/2023

The sunflower seeds I purchased were of excellent quality. They had a wonderful crunch and a satisfying, natural sunflower flavor. Freshness is key when it comes to seeds like these, and I was pleased to find that the packaging ensured they stayed fresh.

By Oliver Walker on 29/04/2023

Sunflower seeds have always been a favorite snack of mine, and I recently tried a new brand of sunflower seeds.

By Grace Rodriguez on 20/04/2023

I love them for making sunflower seed milk, much more eco and budget friendly than almonds or cashews and no need to strain it. The milk is wonderful for hot chocolate if you add a medjool date and raw cacao. I’d like the website to list the origin though, I want to buy from as close to the U.K. as possible to minimise the CO2 shipping footprint. Sesame seeds are also great for the same reasons.

By A Customer on 09/10/2019

These shelled sunflower seeds are always fresh, I buy in small amounts so they stay that way! Oddly brilliant with scrambled eggs and essential for making a green salad interesting.

By Callum Abbott on 15/08/2014

I tried frying these sunflower seeds with tamari and was absolutely delighted with the tasty result. Thank you for the suggestion.

By Ian Masters on 06/08/2014

I tried the risotto recipe and these added a lovely crunch. I plan to try adding sunflower seeds to my vegetable curry next and see how that works.

Raw Vegan Alkalising Green Soup Recipe

Summary: This is a basic raw vegan green soup that you can customise to your very own personal preference. I like to use spinach as my greens, but feel free to substitute weeds or your favourite greens if you wish. You can use more or less of tomato / cucumber / celery if you wish, add other vegetables like yellow bell pepper or courgette ; different seeds or even seed butter (nuts / nut butter for a non nut-free soup). The Spirulina is packed with nutrition : vitamins, minerals, protein, iron, beta-carotene, antioxidants and even essential fatty acids ! And because it is so rich in Chlorophyll, it is a great superfood to add to your diets if you don't consistently eat (or drink) your greens. But the soup is absolutely delicious without it too. Great for a light and refreshing lunch or snack, or as a starter. And you will be surprised, but many children actually love it !
