About Cold Pressed Rapeseed Oil

A multi-award winning healthy, delicious, home-grown and wonderfully versatile cold pressed rapeseed oil, produced in Gorebridge, Midlothian and sold at various farmers' markets around Scotland.

Rapeseed oil is renowned for its excellent nutritional profile. It has a balance of Omega 3,6 and 9 fatty acids, is a good source of Vitamin E and has one of the lowest amounts of saturated fat of any culinary oil which can help decrease the average intake of total fat and saturated fatty acids into the body. Its subtle light taste is perfect for dressings and drizzles and as it has a high burning point it's also great for frying and roasting. Try it and see!

Supernature won the Healthy Eating Excellence Award hosted by Scotland Food and Drink and have recently won a Quality Food award in the Local Food category.

Vegan Quinoa Bean Burgers Recipe

Summary: Vegan burgers high in healthly fibre and protein. I've searched for many vegan bean burger or quinoa burger recipes, but they all either lacked a certain something or were too complicated. So, I came up with this recipe to combine the best of both worlds. Burgers that are good for you! This recipe uses metric cups, 1 cup = 250ml, but you can be flexible with ingredients and quantities. You can use any flour in place of spelt; any oil in place of rapeseed; any type of bread in place of wholemeal; sprouted quinoa in place of cooked. If you don't like sweetcorn please leave it out or use your favourite cooked vegetables instead. Flax can be replaced with more flour or breadcrumbs as a binder. I like to double the quantity using one tin of white beans and one tin of a different kind of bean (eg red kidney, aduki) then freeze for later.

Thai Style Vegan Jackfruit Curry Recipe

Summary: Jackfruit is cropping up as a plant based alternative everywhere, especially as 'pulled' jackfruit. Jackfruit is a tropical fruit native to South India. Fully ripe, it tastes sweet, floral and a little pungent. Young or unripe, it is used in savoury dishes like curries and stir-fries. It is the largest tree fruit in the world, one fruit can weigh up to 40 kg ! Jackfruit is low in fat, high in nutrients, and a good source of dietary fibre. Not unlike tofu, young jackfruit flesh has a neutral taste and will carry robust curry or barbecue flavours very well. Here we present to you our quick and easy week night Thai style jackfruit curry using a good quality ready-made red thai curry paste. The recipe calls for Bay, Kaffir Lime and Curry leaves ; just leave any or all of them out if you don't have them. Delicious served with some rice and wilted spinach or chard.
