Saffron Poached Pears

Saffron poached pears are lovely in a simple salad with salad greens, blue cheese and walnuts.

4 Concorde pears, halved and cored

a generous pinch good quality saffron filaments More products

Method

  • Simply bring the water, pear halves and saffron filaments to a gentle boil and simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • Allow the pear halves to cool slightly in the poaching liquid. Drain, slice into a fan and serve warm or cold in a salad.
  • You can drink the poaching liquid, or use it in a smoothie.
