Eco-friendly fluoride free toothpaste brands are a great place to start, but if you want to go even further, making your own toothpaste is fun, cheaper, as just as, if not more efficient. This homemade toothpaste makes good use of the natural antiviral and antibacterial qualities of coconut oil, which fights bad breath and promotes good gum health. Sodium Bicarbonate gently whitens teeth and Xylitol has been proven to help prevent and mend cavities. Add essential oil of peppermint for that familiar freshness. As this toothpaste contains bicarbonate of soda, it is not to be used everyday as it could damage enamel, use every other day at most. Replace half of the bicarbonate of soda with tulsi, or fine sea salt if you plan to use it everyday.
