Get ready for a celebration! On 7th September we'll be marking 50 years of natural, healthy, ethical shopping. Our mission has remained the same: to bring to our community the best selection of natural products, ground-breaking healthfoods and everyday essentials with utmost respect for our planet.

A healthy start
Diet is important to us. Starting out as key importers of macrobiotic food in 1963 and passionate about organic at a time when we were just beginning to realise the negative impact of GMO foods and pesticide use. Beginning life as a London market stall, we now have two bustling Edinburgh stores and a growing, international webshop, to this day striving to provide a vast selection of special diet foods for vegetarian, coeliac, vegan and other 'free-from' diets with focus on great taste too.
Some Edinburgh customers may remember these early Real Foods bags. We've been using bags made from recycled and recyclable materials for at least 30 years now.
Be a party to healthy living
You're all invited – there's something for everyone. Each day leading up to our birthday we'll be running in-store tastings, the perfect chance to sample something you wouldn't normally try and maybe even find a new favourite.

For the love of real food
Food is our passion, but ethical living is our philosophy. We understand that people are at the heart of what we do, from our loyal customers who have helped shape us, to our close team of foodie enthusiasts, rooted in a personalised service with genuine compassion and a love for what we do.
As a thank you we'll be running exciting giveaways, competitions and tasters throughout our birthday fortnight. We believe in spreading the word about good food, with 'food as medicine' as a strong pillar. As part of our celebrations we'll also be sharing some retro recipes from our early years, highlighting favourites that have withstood the test of time, staying good for body and mind.
Organic roots
Coinciding with the second week of Organic September, our proudly-dubbed 'Real Foods Day' serves as a reminder of how our relationship with food and the products we use and consume are key factors in our wellbeing. A clean conscience can be as important as clean food when it comes to a healthy lifestyle, so we bring you the best in ethically traded, cruelty-free, traceable and sustainable products, from food to household cleaning and cosmetics and toiletries too, so you can shop with confidence.
Home is where the start is
Join in the celebrations as we gear up to a fortnight of festivities. Connect with us on facebook and twitter to stay up-to-date with offers, competitions and health news and share your stories and favourites memories or products from over the years. Ten lucky households across the UK will be chosen at random to receive a Real Foods eco home pack delivered to their door, kindly sponsored by Faith in Nature and continuing our aim to revolutionise the way we all live by introducing you to exciting new environmentally friendly household products.
