About Organic White Cabbage UK

A crisp and crunchy variety that is often served raw in salads and is the main ingredient of coleslaw - a classic salad which also contains grated carrot, onion and is mixed together with mayonnaise.

Whilst researchers have shown that different types of cabbage (red, green, and Savoy) contain different patterns of antioxidants, there is no doubt that all varieties contain a superb array of vitamins, minerals and more recently understood antioxidants and phytonutrients. Cabbage is an excellent source of vitamin K and vitamin C. It is also a very good source of fibre, manganese, folate, vitamin B6 potassium and omega-3 fatty acids. Cabbage is also a good source of thiamine (vitamin B1), riboflavin (vitamin B2), calcium, magnesium, vitamin A, and protein. Cancer prevention tops all other areas of health research with regard to cabbage and its outstanding benefits. More than 475 studies have examined the role of this cruciferous vegetable in cancer prevention (and in some cases, cancer treatment).

I have been making sauerkraut with your lovely cabbage for the last few months.I thank you and my tummy thanks you. Without this cabbage my life is misery. But your cabbage is so live and fresh, and makes the best kraut. I cannot thank you enough. Truely an excellent product.

Sauerkraut Recipe from Real Foods

Summary: Fermented Foods and Drinks naturally contain beneficial bacteria proven to improve gut health and general health. Fermenting is cheap and easy to do at home, plus homemade ferments tend to contain significantly more viable cells (CFUs : Colony Forming Units) than typical probiotic capsules, and are thought to be better at actually colonising the gut as opposed to just passing through the gut, meaning we loose the health benefits when we stop taking the probiotics capsules.

Spicy Kimchi Recipe from Real Foods

Summary: Kimchi is a delicious spicy Korean salted fermented pickle often eaten asa side dish. It's actually a very simple and easy recipe to make at home, and a good result is not difficult with the right ingredients. Traditional Korean Kimchi recipes include sugar and anchovy sauce, so we like to add an apple to get some of the sweetness, and we add a little miso and kelp powder or a little seaweed for the umami flavour that the fermented fish would normally bring. You could also add different fruits and vegetables to your kimchi, such as spinach or other leafy greens, broccoli, mushrooms, thinly sliced beetroot, pineapple, and also fresh herbs, sesame or other seeds, etc, so feel free to experiment and add variety to your homemade kimchi.
