Onion Cough Remedy

Onion has powerful antibacterial properties like garlic its close relative. In its raw form it is an excellent cough medicine. Onion has excellent phlegm removing abilities and adding the juice of one lemon to this recipe will make it better suited to this use.

  • Finley chop one onion and extract the juice from it. This can be done using a juice, a squeezing the chopped onion in a muslin cloth or between two flat surface into a container. Add to the honey in a 1/1 ration and consume for coughs.
  • Alternatively, add the juice of a lemon to the juice of one onion and a cup of boiling water and drink to remove phlegm. Using this liquid as a gargle or gargling it before drinking is a great way of killing bacteria at the back of your mouth/top of your throat, speeding cough recovery.
