About Organic Lemon

Perfect for drinks, garnishing and as a marinade. Lemons have a wide array of uses and are powerhouses when it comes to bringing out the flavour of other foods. Lemons are superb sources of vitamin C and contain many other antioxidant and antibiotic compounds (compounds that kill bacteria), hence their age-old use as a cure for sore throat. I bought these because I was on a cleanse and was told to make VERY sure I got organic and unwaxed. Very fresh and firm, lasted well.

If anyone needs an excuse to buy a few lemons then the asparagus and lemon risotto recipe above is fantastic. I've been buying my lemons here for a while and the quality is always first class.

I love lemons, they're essential for perking up salad dressings anyway but I LOVE these ones, because they're organic, which means I can actually use them for lemon zest!

Gazpacho del campo

Summary: Research has found this soup to increase the level of vitamin c and decrease indicators of inflammation and oxidative stress. Oxidative stress and inflammation can lead to chronic ailments like cardiovascular disease, but vitamin c eliminates some potentially harmful free radicals implicated in these diseases.

Bircher Muesli Recipe

Summary: This is The Original Apple Bircher Muesli recipe, as can be found in the book 'Health-Giving dishes' by Dr Bircher-Benner, first published in 1934 ! Swiss Bircher-Benner advocated eating MUESLI (Dietetic Fruit Dishes) as an integral part of the daily diet (to be eaten for breakfast and supper). The original recipe calls for condensed milk, but you can use yoghurt instead. I like to use coconut milk or oat cream for a vegan muesli.

Vegetarian Roasted Beetroot and Preserved Lemon Salad Recipe

Summary: Preserved lemons give this salad a lovely Middle Eastern touch. They are very salty, though, and so are feta or halloumi, so don't salt the beetroots. If you don't have them, you can also use blanched lemon slices, in which case you might choose to salt the beetroots. For a warm salad, do not allow the beetroots to cool completely, and maybe swap the feta for grilled halloumi. In this case, serve immediately, as halloumi gets hard if allowed to sit too long after grilling. Serves 4 as a starter or 2 as a main dish (you can add some cooked quinoa to make it a more substantial meal).
