About Organic Sparkling Iced Tea Mate FairTrade,
This sparkling and refreshing Iced Mate tea from ChariTea is both Fairtrade and organic and is flavoured with lemon and orange. The tea contains a lot of caffeine too and instead of using sugar, agave syrup and fresh juices are used to sweeten it up. The Fairtrade tea comes from a cooperative in Argentina with the funds they raise helping to improve local social, medical and educative proposals.
Founders and friends Jakob Berndt, Felix Langguth and Paul Bethke started the Lemonaid and ChariTea project "to incite and shape the process of social change". They set up the enterprise in 2008 in Hamburg's bohemian St Pauli district. So far sales of Lemonaid and ChariTea have raised nearly £1 million for aid projects including education, childcare, mental health and infrastructural initiatives. The money is donated to the not-for-profit charitable organisation Lemonaid and ChariTea e.V.
