Review of Healthy Eating Evening

On Tuesday 19th October, Real Foods hosted an evening event on the theme of Healthy Eating for Energy with personal trainer Tracy Griffen at our Broughton Street shop. Over 40 people, most of whom were new to Real Foods, experienced a guided tour and received expert advice covering many aspects of health, nutrition and well-being. Tracy discussed the benefits of including oats, brown rice and quinoa in our diets as a means of producing slow-burning energy. Visitors were given the chance to taste the difference between organic and non-organic coconut oil; most agreed that the organic coconut oil had noticeably more flavour. This unique product contains lots of good fats and rich oils and can be used as both a cooking material and as a skin treatment - as Tracy said, "why put something on your skin that you wouldn't put on your body!".

As visitors progressed around Real Foods, they met Maha of Ishtar Foods and sampled her delicious falafel, taboulleh and broccoli burgers that she had specially prepared that afternoon. After tasting different organic wines, visitors took the chance to have one-to-one chats with Tracy while Tash, Carin and Rhona from Real Foods provided advice on healthy eating and lifestyles.  Two lucky visitors won Real Foods fruit and vegetable boxes and everyone left with a Burt's Bees goody bag and vouchers for shopping at Real Foods.

(Thanks to all our suppliers who helped ensure this event was a success: Ishtar Foods, Burt's Bees, Coconoil, Vintage Roots and Nakd)
