About Organic Blanched Fine Ground Almonds

Are they good for you?

Ground almonds (also known as almond flour or almond meal) is popular for baking sweets, cakes and biscuits. Using our organic ground almonds reduces the intake of pesticides and is better for the environment.
Our organic ground almonds are blanched, so the brown skin has been removed before grinding the almonds.

Almonds are little powerhouses of nutrition. They contain monosaturated fats, prebiotic fibre, Vitamin E, calcium and Vitamin B1. This makes almonds great for helping to improve digestion. Almonds may also help with control of blood sugar levels and the Vitamin B1 can help with energy metabolism.

What can they be used for?

Organic Ground Almonds can be used in baking. The consistency is more like corn meal than wheat flour so you will get a denser, moister, crumblier bake than when using wheat flour.
Organic ground almonds work especially well in Bakewell tarts and gluten-free cakes.
They can also be used as a thickener in curries, stews and soups.

How do you store them?

Store ground almonds in an airtight container for 1 month in the fridge. In the freezer they should stay fresh for a year.

What is a serving size?

A serving size is 25g

If you are baking with organic ground almonds then use the quantity the recipe requires.

Customer reviews

I love almond flour. It is gluten free, can be used in baking or in raw sweets, and gives your treats that lovely almond flavour. Mix with a bit of ground bitter apricots kernel for authentic raw or baked amaretti. Or use it instead of wheat flour in a sweet crumble or (even more exciting) a savoury shallot crumble ...

Low Carb Cauliflower Vegetable Pizza Base Recipe

Summary: Can pizza contribute to your 5 (or 7) a day ? Yes. Especially if you swap flour for cancer-fighting cauliflower and make this wheat free, gluten free, grain free, low carb cauliflower pizza base. Of course, many will argue that this is a world apart from a fire oven pizza crust, and they would no doubt be right, but cauliflower pizza crust is actually surprisingly delicious and super quick to make. And a really brilliant idea for those who want to reduce their carbs intake, whilst still enjoying pizza, with the added bonus of cauliflower's health benefits. A square or rectangular cauliflower cut up in small squares would also make great healthy finger food at a party. For a vegan pizza crust, replace every egg with 10g (about 1 tablespoon) chia seeds and 2 tablespoons water, mixed well and allowed to set for at least 30 minutes. Use all vegan toppings and leave out the cheese or use your favourite melting vegan cheese substitute.

Traditional Simnel Cake Recipe

Summary: A lovely recipe to relieve the munchies at Easter tea time. Traditionally, Simnel cake was made for Mothering Day. Girls working in service were allowed to use the leftover dried fruits from the Christmas celebrations to make this cake as a present for their mothers. Nowadays, Simnel cakes are often made for Easter.
