About Crushed Chillies

Hot fiery spice that can be used in place of whole chillies and releases flavour quickly. Perfect on toasted cheese, sprinkled in chilli or on stir fries, crushed chillies are particularly useful in tomato based dishes. They add a welcome pop of colour and spice to a wide range of dishes.

Customer reviews

You get a wonderful full chilli flavour from these - but make sure you add a little at a time until you get to use to their intense effect.

Vegan Tofu Fajitas Recipe

Summary: Traditionally, fajitas are grilled strips of meat, sometimes cooked with onions and bell peppers and served with tortilla wraps and a variety of condiments such as salsa, guacamole, sour cream, shredded lettuce and coriander. For these delicious vegan fajitas, strips of smoked tofu are marinated in a tasty homemade cumin and cinnamon fajita spice mix before being fried in a cast iron skillet along with onion and rainbow bell peppers. You could also add other seasonal vegetables such as asparagus in the spring.

Protein Rich Homemade Vegan Seitan Recipe

Summary: Seitan is a very popular meat substitute, that is for people who tolerate gluten well. It is made by mixing wheat gluten (extracted from wheat flour) with water into a dough, shaping the dough and then boiling or baking it. Once cooked and cooled, the Seitan can be sliced or cubed, and then prepared as you would prepare tofu or texturised vegetable protein. Seitan is super versatile in that it absorbs the flavour of any seasonings you add to it, or any sauce you cook it in or serve it with. I like this basic recipe where I simply flavour the Seitan with freshly chopped onion (or onion powder if kneading the dough by hand because it can be difficult for the dough to hold the onion pieces if kneaded by hand) and garlic powder, nutritional yeast, chilli and black pepper ; I then boil it in a broth made with vegetable bouillon, onion, garlic and bay leaves.
