About Freeze Dried Wild Blackcurrants
Enjoy (almost) fresh blackberries even out of season. Freeze-dried blackberries taste like just ripened ones all year round. They can enhance any sweet dish or dessert with both flavour and a load of vitamins that are not destroyed by freeze-drying (lyophilization).
How does the freeze-drying process actually work? Blueberries or other fruits (even vegetables) are subjected to a deep freeze and then slowly dried in a vacuum to completely remove the water. The fruit regains its typical lightness through this process and retains its colour, aroma and flavour. In addition, the fruit is packed with vitamins, which are preserved as if it were fresh because it is not affected by heat. Blueberries are valued not only for their distinctive flavour profile but also for their high content of vitamin C, fibre and other beneficial substances such as flavonoids and anthocyanins, which are antioxidants beneficial to health.
You can use freeze-dried fruit wherever you use fresh fruit. You can use it to decorate and flavour porridge, yoghurt, and muesli with milk or smoothies. It's also very popular for pastry chefs, as it makes decorating desserts simple and effective. The blueberries can then be used whole or crushed to create a fine blueberry powder, thanks to the perfect drying. And there's one more thing - once you soak it in water, it will swell back up and regain its original size and texture, indistinguishable from the classic fresh fruit.
