Mum's Day Off

Author: kim

Mothering Sunday - 31st March 2019

After a completely unscientific study of asking all the mum's we know what they'd like for Mothering Sunday, we've come up with a range of products to help you pamper, spoil or simply make your mum smile. The number one request was for something personalised, so if she's got hayfever don't buy her flowers! We suggest staying away from the more boring household goods also, by all means get your mum baking ingredients if she's a keen baker, but heads have rolled for such gifts as a hoover! Think treats not more work on her plate.

Mothering Sunday dates from at least the 1600s and is always held on the fourth Sunday of Lent. Traditionally it was a day off to attend the 'mother' church (the one in which you were baptised) and to give your mother gifts (flowers and simnel cake were popular) as well as the day off from chores. One theory is that it was adopted from the Roman spring festival celebrating Cybele, their Mother Goddess.
