About Organic Camu Camu Peru

Camu Camu has only recently emerged as a nutritional superstar, and is currently the subject of much research into its properties as a food. A unifying conclusion of early studies is that the fruit has enormous potential, due to the combination of bio-available vitamin C and supporting phyto-nutrients that it offers. Vitamin C is one of the human diet's absolute essentials. We need it to build and maintain healthy skin, nerves, muscles and bone. Since experiments in the 18th Century into the causes of the ascorbate (vitamin C) deficiency scurvy, it has been an accepted fact of human nutrition that we must include it in our diets. Camu camu has a sharp, fruity taste, and makes an interesting ingredient in food. It is a very worthwhile fruit which has been part of the diet in its native Amazonian region for many centuries. Certified organic by the Soil Association. We recommend that you add 1 teaspoon to water, juice or a Smoothie. Camu camu powder can be used one or more times daily. Store in a cool, dark and dry place.

Camu camu is a staple in my superfood collection. This Brazilian superfruit is full of Vitamin C. Actually, camu camu is considered the food with the most vitamin C on the planet. With antiviral and antibacterial properties, vitamin C helps ward off colds, making camu camu the perfect addition to your breakfast smoothies, especially in those colder months. Camu camu is also rich in minerals, including potassium and iron, and in beta-carotene.

Raw Vegan Banana Camu Camu Ice Cream Recipe

Summary: Camu Camu is a cherry-like fruit that grows in the Amazonian forest and that is becoming increasingly popular for its high Vitamin C (30 times more than oranges) and antioxidant content. It is also perhaps the most popular ice cream flavour in Peru. This raw vegan twist makes for the easiest, healthiest, camu camu ice cream, without any sacrifice on taste, as frozen bananas alone taste unbelievably close to traditional vanilla ice cream. Only 2 ingredients : banana and camu camu powder ; add optional toppings of your choice.

Raw Vegan Vitamin C Rich Camu Camu Brazil Nut Milk Recipe

Summary: Nowadays, it is no secret that there are plenty of delicious dairy-free milk alternatives for anyone following a vegan diet, with a milk allergy, or just wanting to reduce their intake of animal milk. Brazil Nuts are among my favourite things to make vegan milk out of, as the result is creamy and slightly sweet. Also, Brazil Nuts are one of the only few good sources of the mineral Selenium, so including them regularly in your diet will make sure that you keep your Selenium levels high. I like to add superfoods to my nutmilks, so in this one I add vitamin C rich camu camu. Camu camu is the red - purple berry from a shrub tree that grows in the Amazonian forest in Brazil and Peru. Camu camu has the highest vitamin C content of all plants, 2% to 3 % of its fresh weight is Vitamin C. You can leave out the sweetener, especially if you are going to have the Brazil Nut milk with something that is already sweet. Lecithin acts as an emulsifier, plus it helps the body break the fats down properly, so I always add lecithin to my nut milks. But feel free to leave it out if you don't have any, as it is not absolutely necessary.
