Goji berries have been a source of life in Asia for thousands of years. Originating from south-east Europe, Goji berries are now grown throughout the world and delight consumers with their pleasantly fruity taste. These organic goji berries are high in antioxidants, carotenoids and vitamin C, they are also rich in vitamins B1, B2, B6 and E, amino acids and contain trace minerals (including zinc, iron and copper).
Introduced into Britain in the 1700s by the Duke of Argyll, they continue to grow wild in hedgerows today. Potential medicinal benefits have been shown in studies regarding their antioxidant properties, including possible protection against cardiovascular and inflammatory diseases, vision related diseases, and cancer. In addition they are thought to have neuroprotective properties.
