About Frankincense & Myrrh Incense Hambledon

According to the Bible, Frankincense and Myrrh were given as gifts along with gold, to the newborn baby Jesus. Whether you believe or not this clearly demonstrates the importance that has been placed upon these fragrances by man for thousands of years.

Both Frankincense and Myrrh are dried tree resins containing essential oils. They are revered for their deep, heady, exotic fragrances and in some civilisations were regarded as two of the most valuable gifts available to man. When heated the aromas released are reminiscent of aromatic woods and are believed to purify and cleanse the air.

The pale yellow Frankincense releases an earthy scent with notes of freshly cut pine wood whereas the darker tears of Myrrh are more reminiscent of exotic sandal wood. Together they create a scent that freshens the room and fills it with a warming, exotic fragrance.

To release their wonderful fragrances simply put a few of the tears into a metal dish over a gentle heat source. Ideally line the dish of an incense burner with a little tin foil and place the tears in the foil. Alternatively us an old metal lid from a jar and place it on the top of a wood burning stove or on a very gently heat on the hob, be careful with naked flames and heat sources.
