Taste of Edinburgh Review

As the sun descended on the Edinburgh Meadows for what appears to have been one of the hottest weekends of the year, Real Foods were in full swing for the Taste of Edinburgh festival. Over the course of the weekend (1st-3rd July), almost 30,000 people flocked to try all manner of culinary delights sourced from around Scotland. The Real Foods stall was extremely popular with many visitors encountering us for the first time and some regular customers popping up to say hello.

The Real Foods stall was in the centre of the busy Producer’s Market and was brimming over with healthy foods and drinks. There were lots of familiar faces from the producers of many of Real Foods’ local products – including Belhaven Fruit Farm, Ishtar Foods, Mama Tea....:

Nairns, Phantasie, Stewarts Summer Harvest and Supernature:

and Stoats:

It was an encouraging reminder of the availability of quality local produce in Edinburgh and of the wonderful spirit of community among Scottish producers.

Real Foods were nestled between local tea connoisseurs Eteaket and the master brewers from Isle of Arran Brewery. From our central stall we exhibited a wide range of local produce, organic fruit, raw chocolate and our own delicious range of mueslies. We also launched our new Real Foods superfoods sample pack - a convenient way to try different superfoods and find the perfect combination. These travel-size packs are perfect for holidays and compact enough to suit our hectic lifestyles.

This year we ran a number of different tastings throughout the weekend. Vitacoco coconut water was an extremely popular choice for those seeking refreshment and re-hydration from the heat of the sun.

Visitors also loved trying our range different corn, oat and rice thins from Rude Health with local blossom honey from Hood of Ormiston. This was definitely a family favourite with many parents commenting that gluten-free thins rarely taste this good.

Anyone seeking something sweeter was able to enjoy our Nakd bar tasting and we gave bars away to families and young people.
