Perfectly Fluffy Brown Basmati Rice Foolproof Recipe

This is a foolproof recipe to get perfectly fluffy brown basmati rice every time. It will make the perfect side dish for a vegetarian curry or a spicy chilli sin carne.

Method

  • Start by rinsing the rice in cool water until the water runs perfectly clean. You might need to rinse up to 5-6 times.
  • Put the drained rice and the water in a saucepan and bring to the boil, uncovered.
  • When you reach the boil, lower the heat and cover with a lid wrapped in a clean cotton kitchen towel.
  • Simmer on low heat for 30 minutes, by which time all the water should have evaporated. If not, cook for 5 extra minutes.
  • Once the water has been absorbed, turn off the heat and allow the rice to stand in the pan, undisturbed, for at least 15 minutes before serving.
