About Pepper Black Coarse Ground

An essential ingredient in so much cooking, you shouldn't be without them!

Black pepper is produced from the still-green unripe berries of the pepper plant. The berries are cooked briefly in hot water, both to clean them and to prepare them for drying. The heat ruptures cell walls in the pepper, speeding the work of browning enzymes during drying. The berries are dried in the sun or by machine for several days, during which the pepper around the seed shrinks and darkens into a thin, wrinkled black layer. Once dried, the spice is called black peppercorn.

Colour: Black

I am not a big fan of pepper but sometimes you just have to add it to a dish so I am very glad that I cab buy ib different quantities and not end up with too much in the cupboard.

Protein Rich Homemade Vegan Seitan Recipe

Summary: Seitan is a very popular meat substitute, that is for people who tolerate gluten well. It is made by mixing wheat gluten (extracted from wheat flour) with water into a dough, shaping the dough and then boiling or baking it. Once cooked and cooled, the Seitan can be sliced or cubed, and then prepared as you would prepare tofu or texturised vegetable protein. Seitan is super versatile in that it absorbs the flavour of any seasonings you add to it, or any sauce you cook it in or serve it with. I like this basic recipe where I simply flavour the Seitan with freshly chopped onion (or onion powder if kneading the dough by hand because it can be difficult for the dough to hold the onion pieces if kneaded by hand) and garlic powder, nutritional yeast, chilli and black pepper ; I then boil it in a broth made with vegetable bouillon, onion, garlic and bay leaves.

Delicious Vegan South Indian Sweet Potato And Cauliflower Curry With Quinoa Dosa Recipe

Summary: I love South Indian curries for their wonderful flavour combinations. Spices in this curry compliment the creamy coconut and sweet potato. Dosas are thin South Indian rice crepes. They are traditionally made from a fermented rice and black lentils batter. For a high protein dosa, I use quinoa quinoa instead. And I don't ferment the batter when I am pressed for time, but the fermented version is closer to the original. Serve the curry and the dosa with some rice, if you wish, and garnished with lime juice, lime zest and fresh coriander.
