About Organic Fennel Italy

Fennel features prominently in Mediterranean cuisine, where bulbs and fronds are used, both raw and cooked, in side dishes, salads, pastas, vegetable dishes such as artichoke dishes in Greece, and risottos. Fennel seed is a common ingredient in Italian sausages and meatballs and northern European rye breads. It is a highly aromatic and flavourful herb with culinary and medicinal uses, and is one of the primary ingredients of absinthe.

Fennel is full of beneficial nutrients including vitamin C, fibre, potassium, manganese, folate, niacin, phosphorous, calcium, magnesium, iron, and copper. It is packed with phytonutrients, antioxidants and fibre. It also contains large amounts of folate (a B vitamin).

Ultimate Green Juice recipe

Summary: This is perhaps the ultimate green juice. It is packed full of nutrition with a wide variety of vegetables and dark leafy greens, yet it tastes absolutely delicious. Green juice does grow on you, so if your taste buds do not find this quite palatable yet, please feel free to add a green apple. But please remember that when juicing fruits your deprive yourself of the valuable fibre that stop the fructose causing your blood sugar levels to raise rapidly, which in time leads to insulin resistance and weight gain. So do add an apple if you need it, but aim to reduce it to half an apple, then no apple at all ... Choose all your produce organic, seasonal and local if possible.

Lily Coleman Juiced into a detox green juice or blended into a green smoothie, sliced thin and crunchy in a salad or braised soft, fennel is a very versatile vegetable with a delicate and slightly sweet taste. It is rich in Vitamin C, fibre, folate and various minerals. I make sure I have fennel several times a week.
