The Reishi mushroom is found in nature on plum trees. However, it is extremely rare and almost impossible to find in this manner. For this reason, it was deemed as priceless and only consumed by royalty in China and Japan for thousands of years. In the early 1970s, Japanese researchers discovered a method for cultivating Reishi on a mass scale. Now Red Reishi is readily available and can be found cultivated commercially in Japan, China, the US, and other parts of Asia.
It is non-toxic and can be taken daily without producing any side effects. When it is taken regularly, it can restore the body to its natural state, enabling all organs to function normally. It is an immune modulator, i.e. it regulates and fine tunes the immune system.
Like aloe vera, it is an amazing source of polysaccharides, which are known for their immune boosting properties. It is also a powerful adaptogen, in that it restores homeostasis in the body, correcting imbalances and supporting healing. It is recognised as a good tonic for the respiratory system and the lungs. There are no known harmful side-effects of consuming reishi on a daily basis. On the contrary, it is a wonderful product to take regularly in order to strengthen the entire body system and help prevent against illness.
Suggested dose is 1/2 - 1 tsp a day. Add to milks, smoothies, pates, salad dressings or chocolate. It is particularly good in chocolate, where the earthy mushroom tones complement the deep dark flavour of the chocolate.
