About Organic Red Wine Bonarda Argentina 14% Vegan,
Argentina is renowned for Malbec and seen as a reliable source of Cabernet, Syrah and Merlot but the country's second most planted red variety is Bonarda, production of which was only recently surpassed by Malbec. This lower profile Piemontese grape was brought to Argentina by Italian immigrants in the 19th century and was traditionally used for bulk production of table wines. Not so this ripe dark beauty from Gustavo Caligiore with lovely rich berry aromas backed by a firm and slightly spicy palate with robust, well-integrated tannins. The fruit is generous - fig, dark cherry and a hint of chocolate - and the finish ample and pleasing. Try it with roast pork or lamb, or roasted vegetables with grilled halloumi.
