Regent Dry Red, Sedlescombe Vineyard
Regent produces excellent fruit for red wine enabling the production of a hot climate red in our cool northerly climate. It is particularly well suited to organic growing as it is very resistant to powdery mildew and partly resistant to downy mildew. Only the best bunches are handpicked for this wine which is matured in oak barriques for 6 months after fermentation. This is a juicy, fruit-driven red, with ripe damson, plum and morello cherry on the nose. It has full-bodied flavours of black cherries and raspberries, and soft supple tannins, enhanced with oak complexity. It now enjoys Sussex Counties' Regional wine status.
