Oibelos Zweigelt and St Laurent, Soellner,
This marriage of two classic Austrian red varieties is a happy one. St Laurent is actually French in origin being a close relative of Pinot Noir and these grapes combine lightness, earthy characters and good acidity to produce a versatile and very accessible smooth red that's medium-bodied, stylish and well-poised. A touch smoky, there are flavours of dark berries and black cherries - maturation in small and large oak barrels for around 18 months adds depth and warmth to its ripe fruit.
