Hemp. You say hulled, we say dehulled...or even shelled hemp, the fact is, the little white hemp seeds are the whole hemp seed with their outer husks removed.
We consider hemp one of the most important foods on the planet and eat it every day. Preferably, in the form of hemp oil to ensure maximum doses of all those beautiful fatty acids, and the whole hemp seed, a true superfood if ever there was one. Whole hemp seeds can be quite gritty, and have a strong slightly bitter taste. So although the shelled seed is not as nutritionally outstanding as its whole brother, we find we eat a lot more of them in this form, so we reckon it balances out.
Shelled hemp seeds make our favourite mayonnaises, creams, icing and ice cream. Raw Magic is full of recipes using them, from fudge to curry.
